Registered Massage Therapy Services
Massage therapy is a hands-on approach to health and wellness
Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are regulated health care practitioners committed to restoring and maintaining pain-free function of your body. Massage therapy is a one-on-one, hands-on approach to health care, and is usually covered under most extended health care plans.
At Total Therapy North Vancouver, our RMTs take the time to talk to you about your health history and current physical condition before deciding on a course of treatment. Regular massage therapy can help relieve stress, pain and muscle tension associated with various musculoskeletal or neurological conditions, including:
- Headaches due to muscle tension or poor posture
- Post-MVA whiplash and whiplash-associated disorders
- General muscle tension related to sedentary work postures
- Sport- or trauma-related injuries
- Sciatica and low back pain
- Recovery post-activity (e.g. post-race, or after strenuous physical activity)
- Joint stiffness
- Pre- and post-natal care
In addition to therapeutic applications, massage therapy can be an effective component of a high-performance athletic program, and can also be used for overall relaxation and stress relief. Massage therapy can also be an effective complement to different therapies (e.g. physiotherapy, chiropractic, active rehabilitation), and can enhance or extend the therapeutic effects of other treatments.
Our RMTs use a variety of techniques, including Swedish massage, joint mobilizations, myofascial release, therapeutic exercise, and dynamic stretching to help treat the cause of your problem, not just the symptoms. We encourage you to be an active participant in your treatment plan, and discuss with your therapist what your treatment goals are. At Total Therapy North Vancouver, we work together as a team – and you’re an important part of it!
